General information

Our main field of interests are cardiovascular diseases, cancer, aging, neurobiology, radiobiology, anticancer agents, antiaging agents, oxidative stress, antioxidant system, immune system, inflammation, synaptic plasticity, apoptosis, genomics, genetics, two-photon imaging, in silico biosimulation and modeling. For our studies we use cell culture and animal models, human blood samples, as well as computer simulation and modeling tools.

Our long term projects are:

  • biomedical effect of low-energy ultrashort pulsed laser driven electron beam irradiation;
  • radio-enhancing and/or neuroprotective effect of newly synthesized metal compounds on cancer and neuronal cell cultures;
  • immune system, inflammation and synaptic plasticity in ischemic stroke using patients’ and healthy volunteers’ blood DNA and plasma samples to find biomarkers for targeted therapy and individualized medicine by genomics and proteomics approaches;
  • drug discovery study of natural antiaging compounds in rat models and human blood cells.
